In R2D2, S2 Grupo’s contributes to the definition of the different business scenarios, use cases and the definition of the global architecture of the project’s developments. Regarding Cybersecurity, S2 Grupo contributes to the inclusion of cyber threats and other Cybersecurity aspects in dynamic risk evaluation, advanced monitoring, and event management capabilities, as well as to the development of new detection capabilities for both known and unknown threats, such as APTs.
ELPROS d.o.o. is high-tech company specialized in development of complex telemetric systems. ELPROS is the world leading company in WAMS/WAMPAC solutions based on synchrophasors. In R2D2 project, ELPROS is involved in IRIS and PRECOG products. In the R2D2 project, as demonstration activities manager, ELPROS leads the work package dedicated to integration, demonstration, and validation.
Guardtime (GUARD) is a deep-tech company that builds zero-trust systems, and is heavily engaged in research, development, and innovation activities to build breakthrough data security and interoperability solutions. In R2D2 , GT contributes the digital security of OT and IT and to EPES safe operation, through delivering significant and effective grid defence service that hinders attackers from violating the smart grid systems and ensures an open, yet rigorous, forensic service that will protect personal data and data integrity.
CyberNoesis was established in 2015 by a group of Cyber Security specialists with more than 100 years combined experience in the industrial and telecommunications fields. CyberNoesis specializes in Enterprise Security, in the security of SCADA/ICS as well as Capacity Building. In R2D2 , Cyber Noesis is participating as one of the Task Leaders, thanks to its vast knowledge in Risk Assessments, Architecture Review & Design and Compliance with Regulatory Frameworks, bringing both Academic and Market input to the R2D2 ecosystem.
The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is linked to the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), the oldest and most prestigious educational institution of Greece in the field of technology. The ICCS-NTUA aims to support the performance of top-quality research, development activities and the provision of scientific service to private and public bodies. In the R2D2 project, ICCS is Leader on the C3PO product (Multi-risk assessment framework for power System).
Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM) is a vibrant community of 23 faculties, 5 research institutes, 4 public scientific institutions and 9 associate institutions. UKIM incorporates education, research, and application development in all scientific fields – natural sciences, mathematics, technical and technological sciences, medical sciences, health, social sciences, humanities and arts. In the R2D2 project, UKIM is responsible for tasks related to project foundations, standardization, and policy recommendations.
Security Coordination Centre SCC Ltd. Belgrade is Regional Security Coordinator (RSC), established in 2015 as regional company owned by Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Its mission is to perform RSC services for the TSOs to improve regional cooperation and coordination, contributing to the operational security of the electricity system. SCC, as one of the leaders of Serbian demo site in R2D2 , contribute to the project with its expertise and wide knowledge of South East Europe transmission system, especially in terms of close to real-time operational planning processes.
EMS Services (EMSS) is a company founded in 2019 with primary activity of business and other management consultancy activities, established by JSC EMS, the Serbian TSO. EMSS gathers EMS’ shareholdings and partners synergizing their capabilities to respond to any customer’s needs. In its daily operation, EMSS is project oriented, and team focused with high level of flexibility. In the R2D2 project, EMSS leads the foundations, and participant in all other Work Packages.
HEDNO is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the Greek power distribution network, aiming at power supply and voltage quality reliability to Customers. In R2D2, HEDNO is the Greek demo leader and end-user of C3PO, EMMA and PRECOG products, focusing on impact mitigation of extreme weather events, improvement of cyber security measures, substations’ physical security enhancement and new asset management approaches adoption.
Elektro Ljubljana d.d. is the one of five Slovenian distribution companies operating the largest distribution network in Slovenia. With electricity infrastructure in total length of 17.000 km covering 6,166 km2 (30.4 % of the country) they make sure that electric power reaches every part of central and southeast Slovenia. Operations are managed from distribution control centre in the headquarters in Ljubljana and field activities are executed from five distribution units, ensuring that more than 347,750 customers are reliably supplied with electric energy. Beside that also installations are made for the customers on the market and company operates one of the biggest EV charging systems. Elektro Ljubljana is one of four demonstrators on the R2D2 project, where all tools are tested and demonstrated. The demo site consists of multiple transformer stations, a central management system, and renewable energy sources, with active participation from EL OVE and ELPROS companies.
Elektro Ljubljana OVE is an engineering company and owner of several RES plants. Its main activity is the production of electricity from renewable energy sources. Elektro Ljubljana OVE manages 10 of its own small hydroelectric power plants and 19 solar power plants. Its mission is to participate in the system services market. Within the R2D2 project, the plants and the whole remote-control system i included in the DEMO and upgraded with the new functionality and safety features.
EDP Centre for New Energy Technologies (EDP NEW) is a subsidiary of the EDP Group with the mission to create value through collaborative R&D in the energy sector being active in the following topics: Smart Energy Systems, Electromobility, Positive Energy Communities, Smart Cities and Buildings, Renewable Energy, Storage and Flexibility and Digitalization.
In the R2D2 project, EDP NEW is responsible for the Spanish Demonstrator at Northern Spain where several use cases related with grid resiliency, reliability, predictive maintenance, and cybersecurity are validated. Moreover, EDP NEW leads the cost-benefit analysis and the technical impact assessment, replicability, and scalability study.
EDP Spain is the EDP Group company that carries out in Spain electricity generation and distribution activities, energy retail and services in solar energy and electric mobility. Grids of the future is one of EDP’s innovation domains. EDP Spain participates in the R2D2 project by testing the project’s developments in three different assets in the networks of EDP’s subsidiaries in Spain.
The Institute Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) is a leading Serbian R&D institution in information and communication technologies, which combines systems engineering and information technology to develop innovative solutions in the area of automation and control, e-government, telecommunications etc. Being a vendor of a proprietary SCADA HW and SW solution, IMP is a key technology developer and responsible for implementation of innovative solutions for the R2D2 Project Pilot within the Serbian TSO.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the University of Cyprus (UCY) was established in 2001. UCY leads the development of advanced spatial and temporal resilience assessment and enhancement tools in the R2D2 project, based on its over 10 years of experience and several international award-winning projects on the topic.
RTE International is a consultancy and engineering company that specializes in electricity transmission founded in 2006. RTE International especially focuses on digital solutions for the transmission system operators to address challenges such as integrating renewable energy and developing cross-border electricity exchanges. In the R2D2 project, the company leads the work package “Resilience Suite for TSO & DSO” (IRIS product) and contribute to the development of solutions to improve the resilience of the grid, using its software solutions and expertise in Power System Modelling and Processes.
Imperial College London (ICL) is a world-class top university with a mission to benefit society through excellence in science, engineering, medicine, and business. ICL is a science-based institution that focuses on the practical application of cutting-edge and globally influential research – particularly in addressing global challenges – and the high level of interdisciplinary collaboration that makes its research so effective. In R2D2, ICL is leading the analyses and development of microgrids supporting resilience and multi-energy TSO-DSO coordination approaches while making contributions to the development of use cases, tools integration, cost-benefit analyses and policy recommendations.
